Rule Of Thirds

The Rule Of Thirds is applied by aligning a subject with the guide lines and their intersection points, placing the horizon on the top or bottom line, or allowing linear features in the image to flow from section to section.

The areas of the diagram which have been circled show the points of interest also known as the hotspots. The top row of the grid represent the line of sight for the viewer usually were the title will be. The area in side the points of interest show the primary optical area of the image which would usually be the main image of the product. Finally the bottom right hand corner of the grid represents the terminal area which would contain the important/key information such as small print, barcodes and the company that sells the product.
